At this time Information Technology (IT) perceived role in improving an
organization's competitive advantage. Improving the performance of an
educational institution such as Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) which has been supported by Information Technology (IT) through an existing unit of the Bureau of Technology Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI BTI). With the help of IT (information technology), work processes or business processes that occur in the Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) can be done well and efficiently. But on the other hand, in addition to be in line with business objectives, IT implementation requires high investment costs with the risk of significant failure. Therefore, it
needs a mechanism for IT Governance (IT Governance) is a comprehensive and structured from planning to monitoring. This study aims to provide an assessment of IT governance that already exist and provide a proposed model for IT Governance Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) in Jakarta with reference to the standard COBIT (Control Objective for Information and Related Technology) Version 4.0.
COBIT is one methodology that provides the basic framework in creating an appropriate information technology to the needs of the organization by taking into account other factors that influence. Basically COBIT was developed to help meet the various needs of management by bridging the information gap between business risks, control and technical problems. COBIT provides a practical step through the domain and framework that describes IT activity in a structure and process that can be adjusted. This study focused on two main domain COBIT, the Planning and Organization (PO) and the Acquisition and Implementation (AI). Methodology of research conducted through the analysis and identification of the vision, mission and organizational goals of Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI). Next is the identification of the function of management awareness of IT assets they have in supporting the achievement of corporate vision and mission through a questionnaire. From both the data it can be determined target maturity (expected maturity level) that is suitable for Bina Sarana Informatika (BSI) in Jakarta. The study then continued with the current assessment level of maturity through questionnaires and interviews related to the respondents of IT management. Expected data and the current maturity level of each IT process and then analyzed to see the gaps that exist, and further defined the steps that must be done to overcome these gaps.
